Trenton & Kelsey out Stackin’ Bales! This is all livestock feed (mainly for cows) for over the winter. Since there’s no pasture to graze them on when it’s covered in 3 feet of snow, we feed them hay bales so that they can be grass fed all year long. Grasses and forages are the make up of cattle’s diets as they are ruminants! They have 1 large stomach made up of 4 organs that help digest all of the greens they eat. 🐂🌾🌱 . . . . . #cooperscsafarm #grassfedbeef #hayseason

Chickens are out on pasture ! 🐓 . . . Our first batch of chickens are all feathered up (which means they can handle the elements) SO, they get to enjoy a new patch of grass everyday! . . . We use these movable “chicken tractors” to shelter the birds from elements and predators. We pull the house forward every day which means the birds gets fresh pasture everyday AND a bonus to the fields- the manure left behind fertilizes the soil. A bonus to us: the birds peck away at bugs and pest reserves, which makes pest control a lot easier the following year in our market garden section ! 🥕🥦🍓 . . . #cooperscsafarm #pasturepoultry #regenerativeagriculture
