AUGUST 2009 - The Corn Maze Is Now Open!!!

The big news on the farm this month is that the "Breakfast Television" themed, 10-acre corn maze is open as of tomorrow!!!  August 5th is the official opening day so come one and come all to get lost in our labyrinth!!!

Even though Steve said that while the rain hasn't been a problem for the crops, a definite lack of heat has been - the melons aren't as plentiful as they should be, and while we have a beautiful crop of strawberries, we need the heat to ripen them and make them sweet.

If you haven't been to the farm lately, you should soon to see our two new calves as well as the turkeys who have been moved outside!  The Thanksgiving turkeys are growing really well and getting bigger each day.

Our crop of garlic has been fully harvested and is drying in the greenhouse.

The sweet corn has tasselled and is growing really well, although Steve says he hasn't seen such a late corn harvest since 1992!

Lastly, Lisa Cooper and myself (Tamara Stimpson) spent yesterday (August 3rd) at McLaughlin Day at Parkwood Estate in Oshawa.  We had a wonderful day and spoke with lots of people, while making zucchini buddies with the kids!

All CSA Members should check out our new "Members' Corner" which has a link on the CSA page of the website.  Here we will feature all the great stories and comments we have been receiving from everyone!
